Was mostly about heavy equipment, living in Papua New Guinea and travel experiences. Now unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are my big interest.

Maury Stewart was the mine operations manager for most of the time I was there. This video was what Maury wanted as a keepsake.
My camera shot Hi8 in a digital format @ approx. 400 lines of resolution. These many years later I am trying to convert the video to mpg4 computer files. Problem is I am only able to input SD (standard definition) @ 200 lines of resolution. I have searched for software that would offer a solution but to no avail. Anyone out there who can help me.

The Beaver is every bit as beautiful taking off as it is landing. The video would really benefit a great deal if I was using a tripod but it is seldom readily available. So it is a testament to the features of my camera that allows me to shot hand held even zoomed to almost 800mm.

Living next to the water in Coal Harbour, B.C. has its advantages especially when one is a big fan of the de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver. I usually see 6-8 landings on any given day, and no matter what I am doing I have to stop and watch.

The smaller of these two "spyder" cranes is only 24" wide when folded up and is easily taken indoors to do heavy lifts. I mean just how heavy can loads be indoors? What about that old bank safe? Well if it weighs less than 3,800 lbs. and is within a working radius of 8 ft. then this baby can lift it safely.

Flew in to Tekin in the 1990s with Milne Bay air. The shed that comes into view towards the end of the video had a sign on it saying ' Tekin International Airport'!!

Cable will always out perform hydraulics in this game. It's a matter of physics. This is one of the best examples in a face shovel IMHO. The power of winches with multiplying enabling breakout-power that will never be beaten. Horses for courses. This is not one of hydraulics strong points.

This is the earthen equivalent of what I did to OP's mum. Jokes aside. She was a lovely woman and a beautiful soul, I just couldn't bare to see the pain my continuous petty jokes would cause so it was best I break it off.

Wow this must be a very old Video..Seeing HT54 (789B) & HT40 (785B) trucks dump makes me think back to my old Ok Tedi day.. I assembled these trucks from new.. I left Ok Tedi 15yrs years ago and by then all these old Truck were decommissioned, The last 789B standing was HT69 turned into a Tow Haul truck..
